What is a Puerto Rican Parranda?

Puerto Rican parranda is a spontaneous gathering of friends and family for music, food, and merriment. These joyous occasions often start with a casual invitation and can last for hours or even days. Participants typically instruments, such as guitars, bongos, and güiros, and sing traditional Puerto Rican songs. The atmosphere is filled with laughter, dancing, and a sense of community. While the exact origins of parrandas are unknown, it's believed that they developed from the island's agricultural traditions and the need for social interaction in rural communities.
